Mantle Mania!

I love decorating for the fall, especially Halloween! I generally do creepy, fun and hopefully not tacky decor. I like to keep the colors toned down as well.

I've used black, moss, candles, old pages out of books and glass. My mantle is inspired by pottery barn.

I have a thing for spiders, and bunting banners! I made this one yesterday....vintage looking scrape-booking paper, ribbon and stickers. Seriously only took me half an hour!!!!

I used the left over paper and cut it into shreds and placed in the jars, to pull the colors together.I think it works....
See the spiders trying to get out of the glass jars...it's like they are taking over the place! CREEPY!!!!!

Hope you like~ I had fun...... Happy fall decorating!!!

Spiderwicked!!

I love decorating my front door for halloween! I love going with a theme and sticking with it. Here I decided on spiders.

They are even crawling out of the urns.... creepy!

I love how the purple stands out against the orange brick! The purple mums add a nice touch.

Here they are climbing up the wall. I got them at the Dollarama...super cheap! Also, the wreath I just made myself from halloween garland that was half price. It's so cute with the candycorn, witches brooms, and skull/pumpkins. I just wrapped it around itself and hung it up. Super easy...
My door used to be white, but I painted it Benjamen Moore "Super Nova" Love it! Really pops out, and looks nice against the brick.
This was my door from last yr...I'm not ready to decorate it outside just yet, but I have some neat ideas in my head for when I do.

Fall Inspired!

All photos by POTTERY BARN:

I love Fall decorating! All the Blacks and brown hues! So beautiful, if done right! I prefer the natural over the bright orange and red colors you see sometimes. I have a bunch of spiders like these above, what a fabulous idea!!! I love it.
I can't wait to do my own mantle now........

And this too is inspiring...the books, glass and halloween decor, but not overdone! Me likes!!!

I have decorated with artichokes before, and they are so lovely when they start to dry and turn brown in spots. Nice centerpiece!

And this is amazing, the black crows, which I have a few....what an amazing welcome display! See no orange pumpkins here.....sophisticated!

In the fall, I love lots of candles! I really like acorns...they are so pretty to me, and with a little effort, free for the taking on a nice fall walk with the family!
Are you inspired yet? Happy Fall Decorating Everyone!!!! Let me know how you like to decorate for the fall, any neat ideas to share???? I'd love to hear.......

DIY Bunting Banner!

I am in love with "Bunting Banners!" They are so fun and whimsical to me....anyways, they are easy to make either if you are a sewer, which I am not, so I made one out of scrapebooking paper!

My daughter is away all week at her cousin's...first week long overnight 3 hrs away! So, my other daughter and myself thought we'd welcome her home with a surprise banner in her room. I hope she likes it!!!!

Here it is close up...she's a tween ,so I thought she'd did the skulls and crossbones! See her name on there....so cute!

Doesn't look like paper ....does it!?! I think it turned out well and it took me no time at all. I can imagine doing them for all sorts of holiday decors
Here is what you need:

I took a trip to MICHAELS CRAFT STORE
Pick up your choice of scrape booking paper...it's heavy duty so, it keeps it's shape well
string
glue
ruler
pencil
scissors
stickers if you desire a personal message!
Cut out triangles whatever size you want, small or large
fold edge over string with glue on fold and set to dry!!!
That easy!!!!

This is the glue I used. Martha Stewart all purpose glue stick and it works amazing!!! Dries fast and doesn't show thru.
What do you think? If I was a sewer, I'd be making all kinds of these....but this worked so well and took me no time at all......
Hope Zoe likes her banner!

Lovely Details in White!

Beautiful Details even with some drippy paint!

So sweet!

Just Lovely , isn't it!!!

When I seen this piece , it was love at first sight! Except it was pastel pink! It was cute for awhile then it had to go... So, my carpenter guy sprayed it Cloud White (Ben.Moore) and it's even better! I think it is so adorable, don't you!?! Very vintage, and adds so much to the room.

Look at the side post details- stunning!   Do you get this excited over details like this? It's like eye-candy for me....Tell me of a favourite piece you own that captured your eye. Can't wait to hear....
