Remembering Avrey

There's been a terrible accident in our community! Yesterday a 4 yr old boy drowned not far from where I live. It's so incredibly sad. Hold your children a little tighter today. I feel so sad for the family, I can't even imagine!

Click on Title for full story and see his beautiful face......

God bless you Avrey!

DIY Chair recovering!

I bought this table and chair set knowing that I would change the seat fabric...(Believe me they were very ugly, sorry for no before shot. They were a beige and green wide stripe)

So off to the nearest fabricland I went. I found the fabric a heavy duty tapestry, for a mere 5.99 a yard! So, I bought more than I needed in case I goofed up.

Here is what you need:

Fabric of choice
screwdriver to remove seat
heavy duty stapler
scissors to cut fabric
and patience!!

And Voila!!!!

I love the way it turned out! Just make sure you have the pattern where you want it on the seat, cut off any extra fabric and fold nicely at corners.
It's so easy, and you can change it again and again...Perfect for me!
So if you have anything your tired of, just reupholster it, if I can do it, believe me you can too.
hope you like!

BLACK BEAUTY!!!

I love white, black and any type of glass together! These are a few things I put together on my favourite bureau my hubby made for me....he did a good job, I think! I finally got it painted after a few yrs of being natural wood. It looks so much better now.

We sprayed it Black Lamp-post by Benjamen Moore. It's part of the Old country line they have. I used a matt finish. I first seen this piece in a store, but it was so expensive it was out of the question. I took a picture and then he made it for me. I didn't think I'd find the right spot for it,but I like it here.I can put kitchen stuff in it.
Thanks honey....

Dining Room Dilema's

Well if ANY room gave you a design dilema it is this one! I have struggled with this room for so many yrs now....I finally came up with a plan and I think it works. As you can see with my hubby's tools all around we are still in progress...but so close to being done! I'm thinking the wall at the end behind me, all chalkboard? What do you think...? I have always hated this wall color too, so if you have any suggestions throw them out there...please!!!
My hubby did a great job on the cabinetry. I wanted it to somewhat match the kitchen cabinets and look traditional. We still have caulking and painting to do.And I didn't want the shelves all the way up to the top, but can't decide what to do with the open spaces now! I think I am driving myself crazy, really....

Another view, on this end to the left will be a desk/work station. You can really see how long and narrow this room is.This room screamed out to me...I need a fireplace, so I had to get one put in!

View from entry to living room, we opted out of putting french doors here, because we thought it would close it off too much!

Pretty little window nook, we don't eat here often, but it's nice to sit and have a coffee. The chandelier was original to the house so I really don't want to part with it. I think it's pretty.
So tell me what your thoughts are for the finishing touches!! I would really love to hear...

Old is where it's at!!!

This is my flagstone walkway in the front of my house...hated it at first, but added some purple thyme and it looks a bit better. However, the weeds are taking over...messy looking!! I need to dig out some spots and add limestone screening to clean it up a little. Also I would like to make it wider . Any suggestions...riping it out is not an option as my hubby says..... so I have to make it work!!! I posted this pic for Christine, at "Just beachy", as she is creating a beautiful walkway as we speak!

This is my old doorknob...like the photo from my other post, "Door Love"... what a beauty!

When we first looked at buying this house, I was in love with the door at first sight! It is so pretty. We painted it a soft creamy color like the outer trim! The old owners told us it was hidden in the wall and they found it and opened it up! Can you imagine hiding this baby????

This is my front door...used to be white...I love the purple, but it needs more...(.trim surround to beef it up?) Got to get on my hubby for his help, as I am no good with tools! I wish I was, but it's not me!!! I just come up with the ideas...lol Any suggestions for me?? I'd love to hear....

DOOR LOVE!

Look at these doors....just beautiful! I love the surround on this one , really makes the door stand out.I have always loved a Black door, so classic!!!

I love purple doors! This shade is close to mine. Very cool!

Nothing like an old country distressed farmhouse door.It never goes out of style!!

I love old hardware...looks so beautiful...I actually have a couple of these knobs in my house! Gorgeous! I love the detail in it!!!

This one is my favourite!!! It actually looks like my side door on my kitchen.Omg, its stunning. So casual and fitting with the house! I LOVE it!!!!
Do you have a fabulous door??? If so tell me about it, I'd love to see it!!!
Have a great day!!
