Etsy !

I ordered this custom back pack and lunch bag for my 6 yr old for grade One! I couldn't find any Paul Frank ones anywhere, and she is obsessed with him! He's way cool, so how could I not find it for her.....So to no avail...ETSY came to my rescue yet again! For those who don't know Etsy is an online shopping tool! An outlet for talented people to create and sell their stuff. I have used it alot and it is so easy and SAFE!!!

This one came from "teacher mom", she makes these and they are so well stitched an thermal lined. Such good quality, and exactly what we wanted. She is thrilled.

My beautiful Mya, going to school full time....what will I do? If you want any cool children and toddler stuff, go to www.teachermom.etsy.com
I love ETSY, and so will you!!!
Happy shopping!

Lamp Black and sandpaper!

I know I'm back to these again, but I just wasn't completely happy with the color of the frames. I get neurotic like that, and when I think about it I have to figure out how to fix it. So, I decided to paint them with my favourite black paint . Benjamen Moore,Olde Century Colors called "Lamp Black"....LOVE IT!

I like the wood grain feel, but not the overall color, which you can see in a previous post, so I painted, rag rubbed while wet, and then lightly sanded. I love how you can see some of the previous, grey/blue color showing thru!

Much better, and more suited to me! I'm happy now, no more nagging thoughts....

Clawfoot tubs and Checkerboard floors!

I dream of the day I can design and have a vintage inspired bathroom. Here are a few beauties, I found online. I want a clawfoot tub, and not the new ones, they just don't look the same to me. I have a chandelier just waiting...it was my hubby's grandmothers!
This floor is fun too, I like the hint of black as a border.....I am obsessed with subway tile too...I HAVE TO HAVE IT!!!

Checkerboard floors are so stunning to me, and I so want to have it somewhere in my house. Some project ... maybe in my pantry! I love this look, with the french door and beadboard. Whoever has this is sooooo lucky!

Can you believe this one...I love Black and white together so much!!!!

The plumbing fixtures are so beautiful! I am so excited to be able to re-do my bathroom someday....when budget allows. But a girl can dream. My bathroom is so ugly, I can't wait to show you my before shots when that time comes.

Alone or in Pairs?

I loved the look of this picture I picked up at Homesence yesterday....but I was torn! Do I buy one or two? There was another, a different chair. I'm thinking Yes!!!

I just love it! It's distressed looking, I love the french writing on it. I love that chair, could you imagine having that for real? Gorgeous....
So what do you prefer? Alone or Pairs??? Where should I put this baby ? I'm thinking Dining Room wall, but who knows!

Beach Babes!

This summer has been so hot in Ontario, we find we are thinking of ways to stay cool. So we went south to Cobourg beach. It is such an amazing beach.I highly recommend going.Plus there are some amazing houses here and it's worth driving around and Port Hope is up the road and the houses there are so old and beautiful!!! We do a drive about just to lookie-loo.....

Mya is our fish in the family....she can stay in the water for hours! She keeps herself entertained and is in her glory here.

She really needs the lifejacket, but when daddy's close by it's off playing by the shore. Then on again. You can never be too safe!!!

Just a pic of my hubby....cute eh! He's such a good dad!

My older daughter wouldn't let me snap any photos, so here's one I got of her being amused by making sand balls and at one point she was surrounded by seagulls . Maybe they know something we don't....lol. She's coming up on the teenage yrs, and all I can say is somebody pour me a drink!!!!...overall we had a great day, it was so relaxing. Just what summer should be about! I hope you get to a beach this summer.

Pinkie Love!!!

I love flowers by the sink, so pretty! ( Whatever it takes to make doing dishes enjoyable, actually, I like doing dishes and opted not to have a dishwasher in our new kitchen.(Sick, I know)

I like to put odd numbers together, it just looks better, trust me....

except here, I had one lonely flower left.....(breaking my rules,I know.....but that's okay sometimes too....)

Pretty pink sweethearts......soft pinkish white color, the perfect shade!

Inexpensive and add so much....I picked mine up for 7.99 at the grocery store. Easy peasy!
I say go indulge, treat yourself!!!

Picnik Fun!

This photo has been Picniked, thanks to Chris from "Just Beachy". She did a post on how to make your photos look better, sharper, and adding text. I love it! I need to learn as much as I can to make my photos the best they can be.
I just think it's so beautiful!

Perfectly dried Hydrangea's!

I love dried hydrangea's. These were from my garden last summer. I really like the look of rusty, old /vintage things!

Just look at the color of those pedals, with the touch of burgandy too. So pretty!

One of my favourite little vingettes in my home..... I'm not much of a plant person, I dont' know why as I grew up with tons around.I just seem to kill them. I have a couple , but they too aren't doing so well. Oh well, flowers are much more up my alley anyhow!

Remembering Avrey

There's been a terrible accident in our community! Yesterday a 4 yr old boy drowned not far from where I live. It's so incredibly sad. Hold your children a little tighter today. I feel so sad for the family, I can't even imagine!

Click on Title for full story and see his beautiful face......

God bless you Avrey!

DIY Chair recovering!

I bought this table and chair set knowing that I would change the seat fabric...(Believe me they were very ugly, sorry for no before shot. They were a beige and green wide stripe)

So off to the nearest fabricland I went. I found the fabric a heavy duty tapestry, for a mere 5.99 a yard! So, I bought more than I needed in case I goofed up.

Here is what you need:

Fabric of choice
screwdriver to remove seat
heavy duty stapler
scissors to cut fabric
and patience!!

And Voila!!!!

I love the way it turned out! Just make sure you have the pattern where you want it on the seat, cut off any extra fabric and fold nicely at corners.
It's so easy, and you can change it again and again...Perfect for me!
So if you have anything your tired of, just reupholster it, if I can do it, believe me you can too.
hope you like!

BLACK BEAUTY!!!

I love white, black and any type of glass together! These are a few things I put together on my favourite bureau my hubby made for me....he did a good job, I think! I finally got it painted after a few yrs of being natural wood. It looks so much better now.

We sprayed it Black Lamp-post by Benjamen Moore. It's part of the Old country line they have. I used a matt finish. I first seen this piece in a store, but it was so expensive it was out of the question. I took a picture and then he made it for me. I didn't think I'd find the right spot for it,but I like it here.I can put kitchen stuff in it.
Thanks honey....

Dining Room Dilema's

Well if ANY room gave you a design dilema it is this one! I have struggled with this room for so many yrs now....I finally came up with a plan and I think it works. As you can see with my hubby's tools all around we are still in progress...but so close to being done! I'm thinking the wall at the end behind me, all chalkboard? What do you think...? I have always hated this wall color too, so if you have any suggestions throw them out there...please!!!
My hubby did a great job on the cabinetry. I wanted it to somewhat match the kitchen cabinets and look traditional. We still have caulking and painting to do.And I didn't want the shelves all the way up to the top, but can't decide what to do with the open spaces now! I think I am driving myself crazy, really....

Another view, on this end to the left will be a desk/work station. You can really see how long and narrow this room is.This room screamed out to me...I need a fireplace, so I had to get one put in!

View from entry to living room, we opted out of putting french doors here, because we thought it would close it off too much!

Pretty little window nook, we don't eat here often, but it's nice to sit and have a coffee. The chandelier was original to the house so I really don't want to part with it. I think it's pretty.
So tell me what your thoughts are for the finishing touches!! I would really love to hear...

Old is where it's at!!!

This is my flagstone walkway in the front of my house...hated it at first, but added some purple thyme and it looks a bit better. However, the weeds are taking over...messy looking!! I need to dig out some spots and add limestone screening to clean it up a little. Also I would like to make it wider . Any suggestions...riping it out is not an option as my hubby says..... so I have to make it work!!! I posted this pic for Christine, at "Just beachy", as she is creating a beautiful walkway as we speak!

This is my old doorknob...like the photo from my other post, "Door Love"... what a beauty!

When we first looked at buying this house, I was in love with the door at first sight! It is so pretty. We painted it a soft creamy color like the outer trim! The old owners told us it was hidden in the wall and they found it and opened it up! Can you imagine hiding this baby????

This is my front door...used to be white...I love the purple, but it needs more...(.trim surround to beef it up?) Got to get on my hubby for his help, as I am no good with tools! I wish I was, but it's not me!!! I just come up with the ideas...lol Any suggestions for me?? I'd love to hear....

DOOR LOVE!

Look at these doors....just beautiful! I love the surround on this one , really makes the door stand out.I have always loved a Black door, so classic!!!

I love purple doors! This shade is close to mine. Very cool!

Nothing like an old country distressed farmhouse door.It never goes out of style!!

I love old hardware...looks so beautiful...I actually have a couple of these knobs in my house! Gorgeous! I love the detail in it!!!

This one is my favourite!!! It actually looks like my side door on my kitchen.Omg, its stunning. So casual and fitting with the house! I LOVE it!!!!
Do you have a fabulous door??? If so tell me about it, I'd love to see it!!!
Have a great day!!
